My sweet little Mariner's fan!
We had such a fun time Sunday and Monday. The only thing that could have been better would have been a Mariner's win! We headed up to Seattle Sunday after I got out of work. The drive was pretty good (except for the long stretch of parking lot on I-5 in Tacoma) as we watched/ listened to the Shrek movies. We stayed at the Silver Cloud on Lake Union. It was a very nice hotel and the pool was wonderful. It felt so good to be weightless. Presley is also a little fish and would happily swim 24-7 if we let her. She gets to swim when her Grandpa and Grandma Hopkins come visit and she had to teach Jay how to let her jump in the right way. She doesn't want to be caught until she hits the water and she told Jay he was doing it wrong when he tried grabbing her mid air and holding her as she went in! We had Buca Di Beppo's for dinner and settled in with ice cream for a family slumber party!
We started out pretty leisurely on Monday morning, but managed to make our way downtown. This year we fit in the Cougar Connections store at Westlake Mall and a round trip ride on the Monorail to our annual opening day routine. Presley loves trains and we thought the Monorail would be a great time for her - and it was!
After that, we walked (very slowly) down to Pike Place to get our caramel macchiatos from the original Starbucks. If you haven't had one at the original, you must! It is amazing how much better they are than your neighborhood Starbucks! We made our way through Pike Place Market. We love the people watching and exploring all the things people have for sale. We stopped at Pike Place bakery like was always do and this year we got a mocha cannoli and a loaf of bread. After watching a little fish throwing, we headed over the Pike Place Chowder. Jay got his usual clam chowder and I had my usual smoked salmon chowder, yum! After lunch, we packed up and headed to Safe Co Field! We parked and stood in line. This year, Jay bought Terrace Club seats. I am a big fan.
The seats were great, when Pres got cold we had an indoor lounge to hang out in, and the garlic fry stand was just down the elevator!
The game, as I am sure many of your know, was disappointing. If only the Mariners had some offense. They just don't hit the ball or they swing at crap that they shouldn't. The highlight was the opening ceremonies. Randy Johnson threw the first pitch to Dan Wilson. They were later joined by Edgar Martinez, Jay Buhner and Ken Griffey Jr on the field. Now if only we were back in the Mariner's heyday! It was awesome to see all these guys back on the field!
What a fun mini vacation! And to think, we will be almost doubling our attendance next year! Yes, we will still be going, even with two just under a year old toddlers :)
