Classics Challenge Book #6 - A 20th century classic - To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
I love, love, love this book! it has been my all time favorite forever! If you haven't read this book, do so now! To Kill A Mockingbird follows Scout, her brother Jem and their lawyer father Atticus through a black man's trial in the South in the 1930's. Harper Lee bases this loosely on the events of her own hometown while growing up. From another site, "The novel is renowned for its warmth and humor, despite dealing with the serious issues of rape and racial inequality".
You cannot help but fall in love with Scout and silently sheer on Atticus as he behaves as any decent man should. Although the book deals with some very heavy topics, it is easy to read, easy to follow, and absolutely enjoyable!
